Men's tennis selected for NCAA Regional


The No. 23 Arizona State men's tennis team has been selected for its 19th all-time post-season appearance. The Sun Devils will be a No. 2 seed in the NCAA regional at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, N.C. This is the Sun Devils first regional selection since 2004 when the Sun Devils defeated Louisville in the first round before falling to Illinois in the second-round.

The Sun Devils take on No. 43 Duke in the first round on May 10. The match will begin at 1 p.m. EST. The winner of the match will take on either host No. 12 North Carolina or South Carolina State on May 11.

Duke finished 10-13 in the regular season. The Tar Heels are 19-5 on the season while Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference champions South Carolina State finished 18-3.

The Sun Devils finished the season 15-4, with the four losses coming from Pac-10 opponents. Singles player Andres Arango is ranked 69th nationally while Matt Brooklyn is No. 74 according to collegetennisonline.com. Brooklyn and his doubles partner T.J. Bellama are 44th nationally. This is Head Coach Lou Belken's 15th post-season appearance.
