Men's swimming finishes strong at Pac-10 Championships


The Arizona State men’s swimming team ended the 2011 Pac-10 Championships on a high note with six Sun Devils swimming NCAA consideration times on Saturday. Overall, Arizona State finished in fifth place at the conference championships with a score of 273. Stanford took first place for the 30th time overall with a score of 911.

Sophomore Caleb Veazey and freshman Hayden Thomas excelled for the Sun Devils in the 1650 free. Earning NCAA consideration times, Veazy finished 11th overall with a time of 15:31.05, while Thomas finished with a time of 15:58.75.

The Arizona State “A” relay of senior Nolan Ruane, junior Yutaro Yamashita, freshman Daniel Jurgs and junior Jesper Akesson finished the 400 free relay with an NCAA consideration time of 2:59.33 to finish in sixth place.

Freshman David Adalsteinsson finished in 15th in the 200 back finals with a time of 1:47.63. Fellow freshman Ryan Glander touched in with a time of 1:48.09 to finish in 16th in the same event.

Yamashita finished in 13th place in the 200 fly finals with a time of 1:48.91
