Men's hoops pulling in impressive TV ratings

According to Nielsen Media Research, last Saturday's USC at ASU men's basketball telecast was the highest rated ASU basketball game on FSN Arizona this season. The game did a 2.3 rating/5 share, which means that an average of 41,460 households in the Phoenix market watched the game.

It is also the highest ASU basketball rating on FSN Arizona for a game not against the University of Arizona in nearly eight years. ASU's game vs. second-ranked Stanford on March 11, 2000, which was Eddie House's final regular season home game, notched a 2.9 rating.

Television ratings for Arizona State basketball on FSN Arizona this season are up 207% over its ratings on the network for last year. Through 13 telecasts this season, the Sun Devils are averaging a 1.6 rating/3 share in the Phoenix market. The 1.6 rating means that an average of 28,841 households in the Valley are tuned into the games.

In 2006-07, ASU averaged a 0.5 rating/1 share (9,013 households).

In Phoenix, one rating point represents 18,026 households. A rating is the percentage of all television households in a market, while the share is the percentage of those television sets in use that were tuned into the game

The Sun Devils return to FSN Arizona this Saturday, March 8, when they are in Corvallis to play the Oregon State Beavers in the final regular season game for both teams. Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m. Then next week, the Pac-10 Tournament is televised nationally by FSN. Every game will be offered in High Definition and the action gets started on Wednesday, March 12, at 6 p.m. with the 7 vs. 10 and 8 vs. 9 games. FSN will also televise the quarterfinal and semi-final games as well on Thursday and Friday, March 13 & 14.
