November 30, 2009

The men's golf team has been ranked third in the final Golf World/Nike Golf Division 1 Coaches' Poll of the 2009 fall season.

The Sun Devils began the fall season with a first-place finish at the Olympia Fields Invitational in Chicago. Battling against a field that included six teams ranked in the top-10, ASU finished two strokes ahead of No. 2 Oklahoma State and six strokes ahead of No. 1 Stanford. Arizona State placed third a week later at the PING Preview in Seattle and came in 12th at the Isleworth Invitational at the end of October.

Oklahoma State held onto the top spot in the poll, while Stanford moved into second. No. 4 Florida and No. 5 Florida State round out the top-five.

The complete results from Divisions I, II, III and the NAIA, will appear in the Nov. 30 issue of Golf World and can be viewed at www.golfworld.com on Dec. 2.

The Sun Devils begin the 2010 spring season on Feb. 3, at the three-day Hilo Big Island Invitational in Kona, Hawaii.
