Men's golf heads to Stanford


<p>Coming off of a first-place finish at the 36th annual Arizona State University Thunderbird Invitational, the ASU men's golf team returns to action at the U.S. Intercollegiate hosted by Stanford University April 19-20. They will play 36 holes April 19 and 18 holes April 20 on the par-71 Stanford University Golf Course.</p><separator></separator><p>The line-up for the U.S. Intercollegiate includes sophomores <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-golf/mtt/borsheim_knut00.html">Kn… Borsheim</a> and Braxton Marquez, and freshman <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-golf/mtt/kennegard_jesper00.html"… Kennegard</a>, <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-golf/mtt/gross_stephan01.html">St… Gross</a> and <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-golf/mtt/edens_cameron00.html">Ca… Edens</a>.</p><separator></separator><p>Coached by 14th year head Coach <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-golf/mtt/lein_randy00.html">Randy Lein</a>, the ASU gold team finished at the Thunderbird Invitational with a 9-under 843 (279-279-285), nine shots ahead of the ASU Maroon Team, which finished at even-par 852 (279-286-287). The win marked Lein's 40th career win. The team is now ranked 20th by Golf Week.</p><separator></separator><p>Borsheim (73-68-70) shot a 2-under 211 and finished second. Marquez finished at 1-under 212 (66-73-73) along with teammate Kennegard (75-68-69). Gross (71-70-73) finished at 1-over 214 and tied for ninth, while Edens led the ASU Maroon squad and tied for sixth as he finished at even-par 213 (68-72-73).</p><separator></separator><p>After the Intercollegiate, the team travels to the Pac-10 Championships April 27-29 in Oakland. NCAA Regional play will be held May 15-17 while the NCAA Championships will be held May 28-31 in Indiana at West Lafayette.</p>
