Men's golf in fifth place after two rounds in Washington


<p> The Arizona State men's golf team finished the 36-hole first day of the PING/Golfweek Preview in sole possession of fifth place. The second-ranked Sun Devils tallied a 17-over par 593 (300-293) on the par-72 Olympic Course at Golf Mountain Golf Complex in Bremerton, Wash. They trail unranked LSU and No. 14 USC, who are tied for third, by one stroke, and are four strokes behind tournament host No. 12 Washington. No. 3 Oklahoma State took the top spot after carding a 1-over par 577 (290-287).</p><separator></separator><p>Juniors <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-golf/mtt/pinckney_scott00.html">S… Pinckney</a> and <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-golf/mtt/kennegard_jesper00.html"… Kennegard</a>, and senior <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-golf/mtt/borsheim_knut00.html">Kn… Borsheim</a> each ended the long day tied for 13th. Pinckney and Kennegard both shot a 3-over par 75 in the first round and a 1-over par 73 on the second 18 holes to finish at 4-over par 148. Borsheim followed a 4-over par 76 with an even par 72 to record a 4-over par 148.</p><separator></separator><p>Senior Braxton Marquez, appearing in his first tournament of the season, shot a 3-over par 75 in both rounds to end the first day tied for 25th with a 6-over par 150.
