Men's golf in fifth after two rounds at NCAA Preview


The men's golf team is tied for fifth with a 12-over 588 (298-290) after the first two rounds of the Ping/Golfweek Preview held at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex-Kampen Course in West Lafayette, Ind. Freshmen Jesper Kennegard is tied for eighth with a 1-over 145 (73-72).

Oklahoma State leads the field with a 3-under 573 (294-279) while ASU is just two shots back of third.

Sophomore Knut Borsheim is tied for 21st at 3-over 147 (75-72), freshman Cameron Edens is tied for 27th at 4-over 148 (72-76), Steele DeWald is tied for 32nd at 5-over 149 (79-70) and freshmen Jed Dirksen is tied for 71st at 17-over 161 (78-83).

The teams will finish the tournament on Sunday with 18 holes. The Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex-Kampen Course will host the 2008 NCAA Championships in late May.
