Men's diving sets record at Dallas Morning News Classic

Micky Benedetti earned a record breaking-performance at the Dallas Morning News Classic. Benedetti earned a new school record in the 3-meter with a score of 455.40. His score bests ASU great Joona Puhakka's 449.48 to give the senior the new Sun Devil record.

The school record was not the only record broken on Saturday. Arizona State head diving coach Mark Bradshaw has owned the Joe Perkins Natatorium record for the three-meter for the past 19 years. Bradshaw's latest protégé, senior Micky Benedetti, took that record from him.

"Micky just crushed my record," said Bradshaw. "He was awesome."

In swimming, Sean Boyle was the runner-up in the 200 fly, clocking in at 1:48.33. Yutaro Yamashita earned a personal best 1:50.68 in the 200 fly to place third in the consolation final and ninth overall. Max Laney placed fourth in the 200 back with a time of 1:47.84. Vinicius Waked placed fourth in the consolation final of the 100 free with a time of 45.39.

The Sun Devils scored 227 to place fifth overall. They, along with the women will host Stanford and California.
