Men and women's diving head to Zone E Championships


The Arizona State men and women's diving team will head to Minneapolis, Minn. to compete in the Zone E Championships hosted by Air Force Academy on Mar. 11 through Mar. 13 to determine which divers will advance to the NCAA Championships.

Sophomore Riley McCormick will look to defend his champion title on the platform, after placing first in the Pac-10 Championships for the second straight year. He won the 10-meter platform at Zone E Championships last year and placed second on the 10-meter platform in the 2010 NCAA Championships. McCormick will also compete in the 1-meter and 3-meter events.

Junior Elina Eggers will compete in the 10-meter platform event where she will defend her title as Zone E Champion of 2010. Eggers will compete in the 1-meter and 3-meter events as well.

Junior Constantin Blaha was the runner-up in 2010 in the 3-meter event, and will look to win the event this year. He won the event for the second time in a row at this year's Pac-10 Championships. Blaha will compete in the 1-meter, 3-meter and 10-meter events.

Junior Cameron Bradshaw placed seventh in the 3-meter event and eighth in the 1-meter event at the 2010 Zone E Championships, just missing a NCAA qualifying spot. Bradshaw will compete to qualify for the NCAA Championships this year. Bradshaw will compete in the 1-meter and 3-meter events.

Senior Brittany Jumer will compete in the 1-meter and 3-meter events. Jumer placed seventh on the 3-meter at the Zone E Championships in the 2008-09 season.

Senior Chris Pasanella will compete in the 1-meter, 3-meter and 10-meter events.

Freshman Hailey Casper will compete in the 1-meter and 3-meter events. This is her first season of competition.

The meet will send eight men and six women in total to the NCAA Championships. The men's NCAA Championships will be held in the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center and the women's will be held at the Jamail Texas Swimming Center at the University of Texas in Austin.

The Pac-10 schools competing in the Men's Zone E Championships include Arizona, Arizona State, California, Stanford and USC. Additionally, the Pac-10 schools competing in the Women's Zone E Championships include Arizona, Arizona State, California, Stanford, UCLA and USC.

1st Qualifier: 1st place finisher on platform

2nd Qualifier: 1st place finisher on 3-meter

3rd Qualifier: 1st place finisher on 1-meter

4th Qualifier: 2nd place finisher on 3-meter

5th Qualifier: 2nd place finisher on 1-meter

6th Qualifier: 3rd place finisher on 3-meter

7th Qualifier: 3rd place finisher on 1-meter

8th Qualifier: 2nd place finisher on platform

 

Women

1st Qualifier: 1st place finisher on platform

2nd Qualifier: 1st place finisher on 3-meter

3rd Qualifier: 1st place finisher on 1-meter

4th Qualifier: 2nd place finisher on 3-meter

5th Qualifier: 2nd place finisher on 1-meter
