Melissa Luellen named Pac-10 Coach of the Year

Head women's golf coach Melissa Luellen has been named Pacific-10 Conference Coach of the Year. Luellen had previously been selected as Coach of the Year by the league's coaches in 2006 and 2007.

Under Luellen's leadership, the Sun Devils won their seventh NCAA Championship by eight strokes over conference opponent UCLA. The Sun Devils shot a 30-over 1182 (302-298-291-291) to bring home their first championship trophy since 1998. Luellen was also selected as SkyCaddie NGCA National Coach of the Year and West Region Coach of the Year.

The Sun Devils won six tournaments during their championship season including the NCAA Fall Preview, The Derby Invitational, the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, the 2009 Pac-10 Championships, the NCAA West Regional and the 2009 NCAA Championship. Luellen coached four players to All-American status and the team finished the season ranked first by both Golfweek and Golf Stat.
