McCormick places second on platform at NCAA Championships

The Arizona State men's diving team concluded their successful NCAA Championship appearance with two outstanding performances on the 10-meter platform. With two competitors in the field, Sun Devils scored 31 points to place 24th at the 2010 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships.

Freshman Riley McCormick capped his freshman campaign with a stellar performance on the 10-meter platform. The 2008 Olympian scored 469.5 points in the finals to finish runner-up on the tower. He was also second in the preliminaries as he tallied 471.4 points.

"Riley did a good job, he was very solid," said 13th year head coach Mark Bradshaw. "He was a little off on a couple of dives but everything else was great. From the start, he was on fire. Not too bad for a freshman."

The Sun Devils also earned some points from Constantin Blaha. Blaha, who only started diving platform since coming to ASU last season, finished 12th after scoring 367.4 points in the final.

"Coco (Blaha) barely made the finals but he was able to move up a few spots and get us some points, which was great," said Bradshaw.

The ASU swimming and diving season has now concluded.
