Matt Brooklyn named Pac-10 Player of the Week


<p>Arizona State sophomore <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-tennis/mtt/brooklyn_matt00.html">… Brooklyn</a> has been named Pac-10 Men's Tennis Player of the Week for Feb. 11-17, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.</p><separator></separator><p>Brooklyn, playing out of the No. 1 position in singles, remained undefeated (5-0) over the weekend to lead the Sun Devils to victories on the road over Marquette and Northwestern and maintain their undefeated record in dual match play (5-0). On Saturday, Brooklyn battled back from a set down to take his match against Trent Hagan of Marquette 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (10-7), leading the Sun Devils to a 4-3 victory. In Sunday's 6-1 team victory over Northwestern, Brooklyn defeated Northwestern's top player, Marc Dwyer, 6-2, 7-5.</p><separator></separator><p>Arizona State is making waves in the ITA rankings as it checks in at No. 37 and has moved up nine spots since the beginning of the year. The Sun Devils face a stiff challenge this week as they take on No. 8 UCLA, Fri., Feb. 22 and No. 6 USC on Sat., Feb. 23 in non-conference matches.</p><separator></separator><p>This is the second Pac-10 Player of the Week award for Brooklyn.
