Leake named finalist for Pitcher of the Year Award


<p>Arizona State University junior pitcher <a href="/sports/m-basebl/mtt/leake_mike00.html">Mike Leake</a> has been named one of five finalists for the Pitcher of the Year Award, the College Baseball Foundation announced Friday.</p><separator></separator><p>Leake (Fallbrook, Calif.) is 13-1 with a 1.35 ERA and has 116 strikeouts with just 18 walks on the season. He leads the Pacific-10 Conference in wins, ERA, strikeouts and innings pitched (106.2), and he has thrown five complete games this season. The 2008 Pac-10 Pitcher of the Year, Leake currently ranks fifth in school history with 37 wins on the mound.</p><separator></separator><p>In addition, Leake was recently named an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII selection for the second consecutive year, making him eligible for selection as an Academic All-American.</p><separator></separator><p>The Pitcher of the Year winner will be announced on June 13, and the Award will be officially presented on July 2 in Lubbock, Texas, as part of the College Baseball Awards Show.</p><separator></separator><p>Pitcher of the Year Award Finalists</p><separator></separator><p><a href="/sports/m-basebl/mtt/leake_mike00.html">Mike Leake</a>, Arizona State</p><separator></separator><p>Eric Arnett, Indiana</p><separator></separator><p>Deck McGuire, Georgia Tech</p><separator></separator><p>A.J.
