Lambson named Freshmen All-American by Collegiate Baseball
Arizona State University left-handed pitcher Mitchell Lambson has been named a Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American by Collegiate Baseball, it was announced Wednesday. Lambson is the 25th ASU player to be named a Freshmen All-American.
Lambson (Tualatin, Ore.) is 8-3 with a 2.81 ERA and he is tied for the team lead with four saves. He currently has 84 strikeouts on the season, the fourth most by a freshman in school history. He has a team-high 28 appearances this year, and he threw a complete game in his only start, a 6-2 victory over Washington on April 5.
Lambson earned the save in ASU's Tempe Regional-clinching victory on May 31, throwing three perfect innings in relief as the Sun Devils defeated Oral Roberts 8-3.
The Sun Devils host Clemson in the Tempe Super Regional this weekend. The best-of-three series begins on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark with ESPNU televising the game.
