Jones becomes 91st Sun Devil to play in MLB

Mitch Jones became the 91st former Sun Devil to play Major League Baseball when he made his debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers in a game against the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday.

Jones becomes the first former ASU player to make his Major League debut this season, serving as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning of the Dodgers' 5-4 victory.

Jones played at ASU from 1999 to 2000, hitting 3.48 with 38 home runs and 131 RBI. He set the school's single-season record with 27 home runs in 2000, when he was a First-Team All-American and First-Team All-Pac-10 selection.

He hit 21 home runs and had 50 RBI in 55 games this season with the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes before his promotion to the big leagues.
