Freshman Jennifer Johnson took control of the leaderboard as the Arizona State women's golf team finished round two in fifth place at two 5-over 581 (288-293). The Sun Devils sit 11 shots behind leader Southern California who is currently 6-under par. Despite a lightning delay near the end of the round, the team was able to finish their round before another delay stopped them.

Johnson continued her stellar play from the previous round. The freshman opened her day with a birdie on the par-4 10th hole and knocked in two more birdies on first nine. She scored 2-under 70 in the second round, putting herself at 7-under 137 (67-70). She is currently one shot ahead of second-place Jennifer Song of USC.

Juliana Murcia and Jaclyn Sweeney each shot 2-over 74 in the second round. After two rounds, Murcia is 3-over 147 (73-74) while Sweeney sits at 5-over 149 (75-74). Giulia Molinaro is tied with Sweeney at 5-over 149 (75-74) while Carlota Ciganda is 7-over 151 (76-75). The Sun Devils struggled on Hole 2, a par-3 over the water. Three of the players hit into the water resulting in two triple-bogeys and one double.

The Sun Devils will continue play through Saturday.
