Jennifer Johnson named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year

Jennifer Johnson of the Arizona State women's golf team has been named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year, announces Pac-10 Commissioner Larry Scott. Johnson is now the fourth Sun Devil to be recognized as Pac-10 Freshman of the Year, following the footsteps of Anna Nordqvist, Louise Stahle and Miriam Nagl.

Johnson, who was recently named NGCA Freshman of the Year, capped her inaugural collegiate with a runner-up finish at the NCAA Championship. She was named an NGCA First-Team All-American and earned First-Team Pac-10 honors. The freshman was also selected as a finalist for the Honda Award.

With a stroke average of 72.40, the California native ended the season ranked sixth in the Golfweek Sagarin Rankings and eighth in the Golf Stat Cup. Johnson carded six top 10 finishes and only placed out of the top 15 once in her freshman campaign. She has been selected to play in the Curtis Cup this month and will compete in the U.S. Amateur and U.S. Open this summer.
