Jean earns Pac-10 Special Performance of the Week


Arizona State senior Tiana Jean merited Pac-10 Special Performance of the Week for March 10-16, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today. Jean had a career night in her final home meet at Wells Fargo Arena and consequently earned her first weekly Conference award.

Jean, a Puyallup, Wash., native, shined against nationally ranked Nebraska in her last regular season contest as a Sun Devil. The highlight of both her night and the team's occured on beam when Jean performed a nearly flawless set and earned a 9.95. The score marks not only the Sun Devils' highest beam score this season, but also their highest individual score on any apparatus in 2009. Jean's flirtation with perfection helped boost Arizona State to a season-high 49.35 on the beam. Only seven teams in the nation have beaten or matched that tally. In addition, Jean tied her career best of 9.9 on the floor exercise for the second-time this season. Additionally, Jean's 9.8 tied for sixth on bars.
