Ike Davis named Pac-10 Player of the Week for second straight week
Arizona State junior 1B/LHP Ike Davis has been named the Pac-10 Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, the Pacific-10 Conference announced today. Davis was also named a Louisville Slugger National Player of the week.
Davis (Scottsdale, Ariz.) continued his torrid play, helping lead the Sun Devils to a 5-0 mark last week. Davis recorded two multi-homer games, homering twice in a 6-5 win on Tuesday against Arkansas and again on Friday in an 8-1 win over Troy. He knocked in eight RBI, slugged 1.412 and went 9-17 (.529) to lead the top ranked Devils. He also scored seven runs, drew three walks and played flawless defense at first base. He pitched 1.2 innings on Tuesday against Arkansas, striking out four and not allowing a single hit.
This is the third Player of the Week award for Davis, and second in a row. He is the first Sun Devil since Travis Buck did it in 2004 to win the award in consecutive weeks.
