Home sweet dorm

Throughout the semester, a select group of ASU freshmen will be blogging about their first year as Sun Devils. In the same way that graduation serves as a milestone marker for both students and the university, the freshman year experience is one of significant formation as it sets the foundation for academic excellence.

Moving into ASU was both an exciting and a nerve-wracking experience. It all started with packing at home, which was quite an adventure. Being an out-of-state student, I had very limited space as to what I could bring, and I was terrified that I would forget something. But in the end I managed to get everything packed up, and after 12 hours of driving, I was here. The first time I stepped into my room was a really cool feeling. I met my roommate and so far, we're getting along just fine.

Setting up all my stuff was very exciting. Once I was done, I felt like this was really a place where I could live, and would be living for the next several months. Moving in isn't just about meeting your roommate, but about meeting everyone around you. I talked to a lot of people on my floor, and it was nice to get to know all of these people who would be living around me. The welcome activities were another great way to get to know people. Fall Welcome is packed with fun events, and I would recommend that everyone attend them. So now that I am settled in, it's time for school to start. It's really exciting to be starting college, and I can't wait to get going.
