Haunted house, carnival provide Homecoming fun at West campus
The public is invited to join the fun at Sparky’s Spooky Haunted House and Big Top Carnival, Wednesday, Oct. 26 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Arizona State University’s West campus. This free event is part of the annual ASU-wide Homecoming celebration. A 9 p.m. “Movies on the Lawn” screening of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” follows the carnival.
The haunted house was a new addition to the event last year and was extremely popular. The 2011 version promises to be bigger and, of course, spookier.
Carnival attractions include a Ferris wheel, giant slide, slingshot trampoline, rock wall and spinning berry. For those interested in more sedate activities, there will be a caricaturist, balloon artist and palm reader as well as face paintings. Several campus departments and academic units will host displays and activities such as a cake walk and pumpkin painting.
Snacks and sodas will be available, and a DJ will be spinning music.
The carnival and movie screening take place outdoors in the central courtyard area of the West campus, 4701 W. Thunderbird Road in Phoenix. Sparky’s Spooky Haunted House will be indoors in the University Center Building, adjacent to the carnival area.
Attendees may park in the visitor parking lot; visitor parking fees are waived for this event. For more information, call (602) 543-5300.
