Hardt, Kennegard named ASU Athletes of the Week
Kari Hardt (Cross Country) and Jesper Kennegard (Men's Golf) have been chosen as Arizona State University's Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 4. Both radiated standout talent among their respective teams.
Hardt won her first collegiate cross country race Saturday, winning the 23rd Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn. The junior covered the 6,000m course in 21:19.0 to lead the No. 5 Sun Devils to a score of 46 points and finishing second as a team for the third year in a row. Hardt was 24th after the first 2,000m of the race before passing many runners to climb to 3rd by the 4,000m mark and then all the way to the front at the finish line to win by six seconds.
Kennegard finished 2 under par and tied for 5th at the PING/Golfweek Preview on Tuesday. The sophomore, an honorable mention All-American last year, gained his 6th top 10 career finish, and led the Men's team to finish sixth overall at the par-71, 7,255-yard Inverness Club.
