Graduate Munoz finishes second in LPGA sectional qualifying


<p> Former Arizona State University women's golf standout <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-golf/mtt/munoz_azahara00.html">Az… Munoz</a> finished second at the LPGA Sectional Qualifying held at the Mission Hills Country Club Dinah Shore Tournament Course in Palm Springs, Calif. Munoz shot under par each round of the tournament to advance onto the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament held at the LPGCA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.</p><separator></separator><p>Munoz, of Malaga, Spain, shot a 10-under 278 (70-66-71-71) in the four-day qualifier. She helped lead the Sun Devils to their seventh national championship in her senior season after winning her own individual NCAA title the previous year. One of the school's most decorated scholar-athletes, Munoz graduated from ASU last May with a 3.98 in psychology. She is a four-time All-American, four-time NGCA All-American Scholar, two-time ESPN the Magazine All-American and was the first double-winner of the Edith Cummings Munson award which is given to the All-American with the highest grade point average.</p><separator></separator><p>Munoz will play in the Final Qualifier on December 2-6. The second LPGA Tour Sectional Qualifying Tournament will be Sept. 29-Oct. 2, 2009, at Plantation Golf and Country Club's Bobcat and Panther Courses in Venice, Fla. The top-30 finishers and ties from the Venice qualifier will join the top-30 players and ties from this week's sectional qualifier at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament. Making up the rest of the field in Daytona Beach will be current LPGA Tour members attempting to improve their priority standing and eligible Duramed FUTURES Tour players who automatically advanced based on their position on the 2009 season-ending money list.<!-- STORY AD BEGINS HERE --></p>
