The public is invited to join the fun at two free West campus events as ASU celebrates Homecoming week on all four of its Valley campuses.

Sparky’s Challenge, ASU’s kickoff Homecoming event, is set for Oct. 20 on the new Sun Devil Fitness Complex Fields on the south side of campus at 4701 W. Thunderbird Road in Phoenix. Activities include a 5K fun run/walk, a flag football tournament and live entertainment.

Registration for the fun run/walk starts at 4 p.m., and the event begins at 5 p.m. Individuals of all fitness levels and abilities are encouraged to participate. The course is designed to be a perfect way to become familiar with the West campus. More information is available at http://homecoming.asu.edu/sparkyschallenge.

Then from 6 to 9 p.m., Oct. 24, the West campus hosts Sparky’s Big Top Carnival, also on the Sun Devil Fitness Complex Fields. This family-friendly event features rides, bouncers, carnival booths, a low-level fireworks display, treats, and live entertainment. Several campus departments and academic units will host a variety of displays and activities.

Free parking will be available for both Sparky’s Challenge and Sparky’s Big Top Carnival; signage will direct attendees to the appropriate parking area. Donations of canned goods will be accepted at both events.
