Flu vaccines available for students, faculty and staff at all campuses
Flu vaccines will be provided on all campuses to ASU students, faculty and staff to ensure the university community stays healthy this flu season.
The flu is a contagious respiratory illness that results in mild to severe illness, represented by fever, chills, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headaches and fatigue. A healthy adult can infect others a full day before symptoms develop, and up to seven days after that.
Besides getting an annual flu vaccine, additional tips to stay healthy include washing hands with soap and warm water or alcohol-based hand sanitizers. Avoid close contact with people who are ill and cover your cough or sneeze. If you do get the flu, see your health care provider as soon as possible to get a prescription for antiviral medication to decrease the impact and duration of your illness. You also should stay home from work or school to avoid spreading the illness.
ASU has several flu clinic dates scheduled for students who must bring their ASU Sun Card and insurance card. The vaccine is covered by ASU Aetna and Bridge Plan. For students who don’t have insurance, the vaccine is $20 and will be placed on their student account. Private insurance is also accepted and most insurance carriers will be billed.
Flu shots will also be provided for ASU faculty and staff. The vaccine is free to all benefits-eligible employees. If you are in a benefits-eligible position but have declined coverage, or if you are in the 90-day waiting period prior to receiving benefits, you may also receive a vaccine at no cost. (Note: Verification of benefits eligibility will be confirmed.) Employees must present both a valid State-of-Arizona issued employee insurance card and a valid ASU Sun Card.
Non benefits-eligible employees may receive a flu vaccine for $20 (cash or check only). Employee family members and retirees are not eligible to receive a vaccine through this program.
Please remember to bring the Vaccine Release Form with you - http://www.asu.edu/hr/documents/fluvaccinerelease.
Shots will be given on a first-come, first-served basis for as long as the supply lasts.
