Final results from the Georgia Tech Invitational


The ASU Women’s Tennis team wrapped their opening weekend at the Georgia Tech Invitational with a stellar day Sunday in which nearly every Sun Devil recorded a win on the day. ASU wraps the weekend as they gear up for the Cal Nike Invitational next weekend.

To start off the day ASU took on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in doubles where Kelcy McKenna and Micaela Hein paired up again for another win as they put away Sasha Krupina and Christina Ngo 8-6. Ashlee Brown and Ali Van Horne paired up again as well, but were unable to topple GT’s Hickey/Striplin who took an 8-2 win from the Sun Devils.

In singles action, the Sun Devils snapped back into form as they took on the Princeton Tigers with Kelcy McKenna and Micaela HeinLaila Abdala, and Ashlee Brown winning their match-ups in three. winning in straight sets and Micaela Hein came out to take on Princeton’s Hillary Bartlett who she put away in a decisive manner with a 6-4, 6-4 straight sets win. Kelcy McKenna followed her lead as she beat Lauren McHale after gritting through a tough 7-6 (4) win in the first set, McKenna slammed the door shut in the second with a 6-2 win.

Next up the Sun Devils will travel to Berkeley, Calif. next weekend as they gear up to face another tough test at the Cal Nike Invitational.
