Eight gym devils named All-Academic
The Arizona State Women's gymnastics had eight student-athletes named to the Pacific-10 All-Academic Team. The Sun Devils had five on the first-team, two on the second-team with one athlete additionally named honorable mention.
Seniors Mary Atkinson and Brittany Schuett, juniors Kahoku Palafox and Callie Price and sophomore Amelia Rew were each selected to be first-team. Schuett, a floor specialist for the Sun Devils, earned first-team honors for the third time of her career with a 4.03 grade point average as a double major in Speech and Hearing Science and psychology. This is Atkinson's second year in a row to be selected for first-team with a 3.72 GPA majoring in Bioscience. Palafox is majoring in sustainability while maintaining a 3.69 GPA, earning honors for the second time in her career. Price earned honors for the first time in her career while she studies Kinesiology maintaining a GPA of 3.65. Rew is a student-athlete majoring in bioscience. She earned honors for the first time with a GPA of 3.89.
Junior Amanda Davies and sophomore Nicole Johnson each earned second-team honors. Davies maintains a GPA of 3.49 while Johnson studies Kinesiology earning a GPA of 3.54.
Christina Salavec, a junior who competes on three events for the Gym Devils, studies Kinesiology and was named honorable mention All-Academic.
