Desert Twilight to feature two races, community events

For the 25th year in a row, the Arizona State University cross country program will play host to the ASU Invitational and, for the second year in a row, will do so in conjunction with the Desert Twilight Cross Country Festival that will be held Friday, October 1, at Toka Sticks Golf Course in Mesa, Ariz. The ASU Invitational will feature two races that will be part of a 17-race schedule with much of the later races taking place under the lights.

Along with the two collegiate 5,000m races, the Festival will once again feature the Desert Twilight Community 5k, which is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. The Festival begins at 4:30 p.m. with the High School Boys Freshman Small School race and concludes at 8:45 p.m. with the running of the High School Boys Sweepstakes race. An award ceremony will be held following the final race.

The Toka Sticks course consists of a 5,000m loop that is entirely on grass from start to finish. Spikes will be allowed on the course for all competitors while strollers are not allowed for spectators. Refreshments will be available throughout the evening, as well as a T-shirt vendor where you can purchase Desert Twilight shirts for $15 (bring your community run race bib and pay just $5).

Entry for the community race will be $20 per person while teams entering the high school and collegiate competitions should talk with the contacts listed below for more information and entry costs. Admission for fans to watch is free.
