Day one of Pac-10 women's swimming; as diving meets conclude


The Arizona State women's swimming and diving team finished day one of competition in the Pac-10 Championships held at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash. The men's diving team also competed with two Sun Devils making the finals.

Micky Benedetti, the reigning Pac-10 1-meter champion, put up a score of 371.50 in the final of the 1-meter and finished short of his attempt at a repeat of defending his title. Benedetti placed third behind Stanford's Dwight Dumais and Harrison Jones of USC. Redshirt freshman Cameron Bradshaw placed in the top eight with a sixth place finish. He scored 324.15 points.

In women's swimming, the 800 free relay team of Penelope Yamauchi, Samantha Caldwell, Jamie Martinez and Christine Mauro compiled to earn a time of 7:25.29 and place eighth. The 200 medley relay was disqualified.

The Arizona State women's swimming and diving team and men's diving team will continue to compete in the Pac-10 Championships through Saturday.
