Council of Academic Advisers’ awards
More than 75 advisers, faculty, staff and community members were on hand June 13 for the Council of Academic Advisers’ awards ceremony and reception in the Hobbs Family Stadium Club at Sun Devil Stadium.
Each June, the council recognizes the excellent work done by ASU staff and faculty in support of advising with an awards ceremony and reception. There were more than 25 nominations in four categories for the Advising Support Awards, and the winners selected were:
• Wendi Simonson (advising office).
• Heather Hoffart (non-advising office).
• Candace Bredbenner (advising administrator).
• David Capco (non-advising faculty).
Each winner was introduced via excerpts from their nominations and presented with an engraved plaque.
New to the ceremony this year was the addition of the Excellence in Academic Advising award. Its first recipient is Ria Hermann, a 13-year veteran adviser in University College at the Downtown Phoenix campus. In addition to an engraved plaque, Hermann also received registration to the 2007 Professional Development Institute, sponsored by Career Services, and a cash award.
