Byrne stays under par, pushes Scotland into fifth place

Senior James Byrne was one of only six players to finish the third round of the World Amateur Team Championships under par and finished the tournament tied for fourth out of 196 golfers in the individual standings. Due to inclement weather in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the fourth round of the event was cut and the results were final after 54 holes.

Byrne continued his string of birdies, carding five in the third round at the Buenos Aires Golf Club to end the day at 1-under par 71. His overall score of 1-under par 214 (75-68-71) guided Scotland into fifth place with a 6-over par 436 (150-140-146).

Senior Jesper Kennegard eagled the par-14 13th hole at the Buenos Aires Golf Club and shot a 9-over par 81 in the third round, pushing his overall score to 12-over par 227 (75-71-81). The Swedish National Team tied for 13th with three other teams at 15-over par 445 (141-146-158).

France won the tournament with a 7-under par 423 (137-142-144), followed by Denmark at 3-under par 427 (139-141-147) and the U.S. at 2-under par 428 (143-142-143).
