Brady Rodgers named Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week
Arizona State freshman right hander Brady Rodgers has been named the Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced today. It marks the sixth time this season that a Sun Devil has won a weekly award from the Pac-10 Conference. Rodgers joins Jake Borup as a Pitcher of the Week winner in 2010. Zack MacPhee, Drew Maggi and Riccio Torrez have all won Player of the Week honors this season. MacPhee has won twice.
It is the first weekly honor for Rodgers and the 58th all-time Pitcher of the Week winner for ASU.
Rodgers was nearly untouchable for the Sun Devils as they defeated Arizona 13-1 on Tuesday night. The righty from Richmond, Texas allowed Arizona's Bobby Rinard to open the game with a base hit, then preceded to retire the next 21 Wildcat batters en route to allowing two hits and striking out seven in his eight innings of work. For his efforts, Rodgers was also named a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball.
