Benedetti takes third Pac-10 three-meter title

<p> Day two of the Pac-10 women's swimming and Pac-10 diving championships concluded as the Sun Devils finished in seventh with 146 points.<a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/benedetti_micky01.html">… href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/benedetti_micky01.html">… Benedetti</a> won the 3-meter for the third straight year. The senior finished with 402.70 points to earn a 3-meter championship plaque for every year he had been.</p><separator></separator><p>"Micky had a strong final dive that was equal with [Harrison Jones of USC and Brent Eichenseer of Stanford}," said 12th year diving coach <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/bradshaw_mark00.html">Ma… Bradshaw</a>. "He didn't have that yesterday and that's what put him ahead today."</p><separator></separator><p><a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/jumer_brittany00.html">B… Jumer</a>, who was the lone female Pac-10 diver to final in all three dives last season, also earned points in diving for the Sun Devils. The sophomore finished sixth in the 1-meter after compiling 276.70 points.</p><separator></separator><p>"Brittany really dove great," said Bradshaw. "Her degree of difficulty on the 1-meter isn't as high as some of the other girls but she dove really well today."</p><separator></separator><p>In swimming, the 200 free relay team of <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/beckberger_jen00.html">J… Beckberger</a>, <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/perazzo_jess00.html">Jess Perazzo</a>, <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/caldwell_samantha00.html… Caldwell</a> and <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/haron_katie00.html">Katie Haron</a> placed fifth after clocking in a time of 1:21.57. Beckberger, Perazzo and Haron also competed in the "C" final of the 50 free. Beckberger finished in 23.10 while Perazzo touched the wall in 23.13. Haron's time of 23.26 puts her on the ASU top 10 list. Haron is now tied with <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/baham_sarah00.html">Sarah Baham</a> and Heidi Hendricks.</p><separator></separator><p><img src="http://grfx.cstv.com/graphics/spacer.gif&quot; height="1border=0" width="5"><br> "The time from the 200 free relay team was the fastest time of the season," said 11th year head coach Mike Chasson. Martinez finished in 2:03.09 while Yamauchi was right after at 2:03.11. Martinez' time was a personal best for her.
