Battle for the Pac: ASU softball faces Washington & UCLA

On Tap: The top-ranked Sun Devil Softball squad (52-3, 14-1 Pac-10) squad continues their Pac-10 slate this weekend, hitting the road to Seattle to face the 21st-ranked Washington Huskies before travelng to Hollywood to take on the fourth-ranked UCLA Bruins. The Sun Devils will take on Washington on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. After the completion of that game, they will travel down to Los Angeles to play UCLA on Saturday at 3 p.m. followed with the completion of their series with the Bruins on Sunday at noon.<separator></separator>Last Time Out: In Friday night's game against Oregon State, the Sun Devils continued their halted game from April 6th where they only needed to complete the 7th inning to close out a 6-4 lead they gained in Corvallis. The Sun Devils weren't quite done yet though offensively as <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/mtt/donnenwirth_krista00.h… Donnenwirth</a> led-off the 7th with a single that was belted home by a two-run shot from <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/mtt/miller_kristen00.html"… Miller</a> as ASU rolled to an 8-4 fi nal win.<separator></separator>In their regularly scheduled match-up with the Beavers, <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/mtt/burkhart_katie00.html"… Burkhart</a> stepped to the circle to pitch a one-hit gem, striking out 14 as <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/mtt/donnenwirth_krista00.h… Donnenwirth</a> went 2-for-3 with a home run and <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/mtt/cowles_mindy00.html">M… Cowles</a> belting a long ball as well to give ASU the 5-1 win.<separator></separator>Against the Ducks on Saturday Donnenwirth was 3-for-4 and <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/mtt/cowles_mindy00.html">M… Cowles</a> belted a three run shot in the first as <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/mtt/elliott_megan00.html">… Elliott</a> pitched phenomenally as she hurled a three-hit complete game for her first complete game Pac-10 victory.<separator></separator>Sunday saw the Sun Devils come out to dominate the Ducks as <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/mtt/burkhart_katie00.html"… Burkhart</a> put in only five innings of flawless work as the offense did the rest as <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/mtt/cochran_kaitlin00.html… Cochran</a> belted a grand slam and Pac-10 Player of the Week <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/mtt/miller_kristen00.html"… Miller</a> hit another home run for two more runs in ASU's five inning 9-0 win.
