Baseball's Zack MacPhee named Pac-10 Player of the Week

April 12, 2010

For the second time this season, Arizona State sophomore second baseman Zack MacPhee has been named Pac-10 Player of the Week. It marks the fourth time in 2010 that a Sun Devil has won a weekly award from the conference and it is the 93rd all-time Player of the Week award for ASU, most in the Pac-10 Conference. Jake Borup and Drew Maggi have also won weekly awards this season.

MacPhee (Phoenix, Ariz.) was an offensive juggernaut for the Sun Devils last week, going 12-22 (.545) with eight runs scored and 13 runs batted in. He homered in all three games at Washington State and added his 10th triple of the season against San Diego, giving him a 1.045 slugging percentage in the five games this week. He also drew three walks and stole two bases.

MacPhee leads the Sun Devils with his .445 batting average, six homers and 43 RBI. He has collected 49 hits in his 28 games played, tripling 10 times and also stealing 13 bases.

The Sun Devils return home Friday night as they open a three-game series with the USC Trojans. First pitch Friday is set for 6:30 p.m. from Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark.
