Baseball's Paramore and Leake named First Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII selections

Arizona State junior catcher Petey Paramore and sophomore pitcher/infielder Mike Leake have been named First Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII selections. It is the second time since 2005 that head coach Pat Murphy has placed two players on the team. The First Team selection makes both players eligible for Academic All-America status. Five Sun Devils have been named Academic All-Americans since Pat Murphy was named head coach, including Casey Myers, who was named Academic All-American of the Year in 2000 and 2001.

Paramore (Allen, Texas) is the Sun Devils' team captain and carries a 3.65 GPA as a BIS major. Paramore was a First Team Academic All-Pac-10 selection a season ago. He is hitting .329 and leads the Pac-10 Conference with his 43 walks.

Leake (Fallbrook, Calif.) is a management major with a 3.40 GPA. He is 7-1 with one save on the mound for the Devils, and is hitting .478 with two homers as a versatile utility player who can play every infield and outfield position.
