Baseball's Paramore and Leake named First Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII selections


<p> Arizona State junior catcher <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl/mtt/paramore_petey00.html"… Paramore</a> and sophomore pitcher/infielder <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl/mtt/leake_mike00.html">Mike Leake</a> have been named First Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII selections. It is the second time since 2005 that head coach <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl/mtt/murphy_pat00.html">Pat Murphy</a> has placed two players on the team. The First Team selection makes both players eligible for Academic All-America status. Five Sun Devils have been named Academic All-Americans since <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl/mtt/murphy_pat00.html">Pat Murphy</a> was named head coach, including <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl/mtt/myers_casey00.html">Ca… Myers</a>, who was named Academic All-American of the Year in 2000 and 2001.</p><separator></separator><p>Paramore (Allen, Texas) is the Sun Devils' team captain and carries a 3.65 GPA as a BIS major. Paramore was a First Team Academic All-Pac-10 selection a season ago. He is hitting .329 and leads the Pac-10 Conference with his 43 walks.</p><separator></separator><p>Leake (Fallbrook, Calif.) is a management major with a 3.40 GPA. He is 7-1 with one save on the mound for the Devils, and is hitting .478 with two homers as a versatile utility player who can play every infield and outfield position.</p>
