Baseball ends season with loss to Texas in CWS


<p> The Arizona State University baseball team lost 4-3 to Texas on Friday in the 2009 College World Series. The Sun Devils finish tied for third in the College World Series with the loss, and they end the season at 51-14.</p><separator></separator><p>Texas catcher Cameron Rupp tied the game in the bottom of the ninth with a solo home run to center, and two batters later, Longhorns center fielder Connor Rowe hit a walk-off homer to left to eliminate the Sun Devils.</p><separator></separator><p>That came after ASU broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the ninth, when <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl/mtt/wilson_zach00.html">Za… Wilson</a>, who entered the game as a pinch-hitter in the seventh, hit a two-out triple to the right field corner to score <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl/mtt/kipnis_jason00.html">J… Kipnis</a>.</p><separator></separator><p><a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl/mtt/lambson_mitchell00.htm… Lambson</a> took the loss, dropping to 9-5. He retired the first seven batters he faced after coming on in the seventh, but he allowed the two solo home runs in the ninth. He had five strikeouts in 2.2 innings, giving him the school's freshmen record with 99 strikeouts for the season.</p><separator></separator><p><a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl/mtt/leake_mike00.html">Mike Leake</a> started on the mound, and he went six innings and allowed two runs on eight hits with seven strikeouts, but he left with the game tied and ended up with a no decision.</p><separator></separator><p><a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl/mtt/calhoun_kole00.html">K… Calhoun</a> completed a remarkable four-game stretch in the College World Series, going 3-for-4 with a walk and an RBI single.
