Barrett honor students call CHS home

This fall, 31 Barrett Honor College students will continue their studies through the College of Human Services.

Cassia Roberts, sophomore, is majoring in Communication Studies. She finds the combination of honors classes with her communication classes to be most beneficial. “The small classes encourage discussion, which of course involves the effective communication necessary to be able to share thoughts with and understand the ideas of other classmates. That type of intimacy gives me an opportunity to sharpen my communication skills.”

Erika Monarrez, sophomore, is pursuing a double major in Criminal Justice and International Management Leadership. “The Honors College is contributing to my course of study by allowing me to step outside my box of norms and preparing me for challenges in the real world. It has also provided me with many opportunities to expand my point of view as well as my intellectual mind.”

Studies in CHS programs are enriched through 36 hours of honors’ studies culminating in a thesis or creative project prior to graduation and in preparation for a post-graduate career.

Applications for Barrett Honors College are still being accepted for the ’08-’09 academic year. For more information call BHC at 602-543-6118.
