ASU women's soccer travels to Knoxville to face Tennessee and Kansas

<separator></separator><a href="http://www.azcentral.com/sports/asu/articles/2009/08/27/20090827spt-asu…; target="_blank">Arizona Republic: Doller proves to be a steal for ASU</a><separator></separator>After capturing a win in last week's season opener over UC Irvine, the Arizona State women's soccer team makes its first road trip of the 2009 season when it travels to Knoxville, Tenn., for the Lady Vol Classic. The Sun Devils will open the weekend on Friday night when they face the host Lady Vols (8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT) and then will conclude their time in Knoxville on Sunday when they take on Kansas (12:30 p.m. PT/9:30 a.m. PT).<separator></separator>Also participating in the weekend's competition will be Pepperdine, which faces Kansas in Friday's first game and Tennessee in Sunday's finale. The Sun Devils face Pepperdine on Sept. 25 in Tempe.<separator></separator>Friday's contest against Tennessee will be ASU's second ever meeting against the Southeastern Conference school. The Lady Vols defeated ASU 2-1 in the only prior meeting between the two schools in 1997. The game was called in the 78th minute because of lightning after being delayed for an hour and 40 minutes earlier in the evening. The Sun Devils were awarded the victory because at least 70 minutes of the game had been completed. Freshman forward <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-soccer/mtt/doller_bianca00.html">… Doller</a> and junior midfielder <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-soccer/mtt/elston_alexandra00.htm… Elston</a> were responsible for the goals while senior goalkeeper began the new season by accounting for her 13th career shutout. Silvestri Moves Up the Charts With last week's shutout over UC Irvine senior goalkeeper <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-soccer/mtt/silvestri_briana00.htm… Silvestri</a> moved into a tie for third place (<a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-soccer/mtt/fitzgerald_kelly00.htm… Fitzgerald</a>, 2001-04) on ASU's all-time list for career shutouts (13). It's the latest accomplishment for Silvestri, who last season set the school's single-season record for goals against average for the second consecutive season. Silvestri needs four more shutouts to pass <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-soccer/mtt/bingham_kim00.html">Kim Bingham</a> (16.5 saves, 2003-06 for second place).
