ASU women's soccer defeated by Oregon


The ASU women's soccer team was defeated by Oregon 1-0 on Friday night. The Sun Devils fall to 7-6-4 (1-4-1 Pac-10) while Oregon moves to 8-7-2 (1-4-1 Pac-10).

The only score came 24 seconds into the game when Oregon sophomore forward Jen Stoltenberg got free on a breakaway and got her shot into the far post for what would prove to be the game winning goal.

Sophomores Jill Shoquist and Karin Volpe tied for the team lead in shots with three each. Overall,the Sun Devils held a 14-8 advantage in shots, including a 9-3 advantage in the second half.

The Sun Devils return to action on Sunday at 1 p.m. when they host Oregon State in their final home game of the season. Seniors Carla Scanniello and Kylla Sjoman will be honored in a ceremony prior to the game.
