ASU volleyball grab second sweep over Oregon State


CORVALLIS, Ore. - Margie Giordano had a .524 attack percentage and tied her career-high for kills for the second time this season with 23 as the Sun Devil Volleyball team came out to sweep the Oregon State Beavers for the second time this season Thursday night in Corvallis. Also led by Sydney Donahue's 26 digs, the Sun Devils won 30-28, 30-16 and 32-30 to push their record to 12-11 overall and 4-6 in conference play while Oregon State falls to 9-13 overall and 2-8 in the Pac-10.

Game one saw Margie Giordano come out blazing with a .529 kill percentage in the first game grabbing nine kills and teaming up with Staci Smith for 13 of the team's 20 kills en route to their 30-28 win over the Beavers. OSU hung tough though with Lauren Rinderknecht taking six kills in the match against the Devils. 

Game two saw the Sun Devils click on all cylinders as Giordano hit a .667 attack percentage with ten kills and Marina Mercer grabbing 13 assists as ASU as a team posted a .457 attack percentage to wipe out the Beavers with a 30-16 win.

The Beavers came back solid in game three to give the Sun Devils a run and push them into extra points, but Staci Smith led ASU with seven kills, backed with Danielle Fernandes' five to finish the sweep as ASU took the last game 32-30.

The Sun Devils bounce back into Pac-10 action tomorrow night in Eugene as they set to face the #16 Oregon Ducks at 7 p.m. PT.
