ASU track & field places 27 athletes on Pac-10 All-Academic Teams


Twenty-seven members of the Arizona State University track and field program have been selected to the Pacific-10 Conference All-Academic team, the conference announced Tuesday, June 3. The program place four men and two women on the Pac-10 All-Academic First Team, including April Kubishta, the 2008 Pac-10 Conference Women's Track & Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year, presented by Toyo Tires.

The 17 selected women included first team honorees Kubishta and Jocelyn Buras and second team selections for Ali Kielty, Jenna Kingma, Lissa Regets and Angela Spadafino. The remaining honorees, which included Roshawnda Brown, Jacquelyn Johnson, Whitney Lemieux, D'Metra Macedon, Lisa Nelson, Jessica Pressley, Erika Simington, Sarah Stevens and Alana Waterford, all earned honorable mention selections.

The men, which placed 12 student-athletes on the list, were led by four first team selections in Ben Engelhardt, Jeff Helwig, Justin KremerJason Lewis. The duo of Andy Haas and Ryan Whiting both earned second-team honors while Kyle Alcorn, Jeremy Egboro, Joey Heller, Jeff Helmer, Kyle Hitchcock and David Mehlhorn each were selected for honorable mention accolades. and

The Sun Devils will send 20 athletes to Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa, next week (June 11-14) for the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
