ASU teams solid at Mt. SAC

SAC Relays Results</a> (link)</p><separator></separator><p>The final day of competition came to a close at the 52nd Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., on Saturday afternoon for the Arizona State University track and field program with more fast times recorded by the Sun Devils. ASU was represented in four relays, two individual races and one field event following a very busy Friday.</p><separator></separator><p>On the track, the men’s sprinters again produced solid marks with both relays placing second in the invitational sections of their event while three quarter-milers also posted fast times. First up, the 4x100m relay team of <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-track/mtt/stokes_michael00.html">… Stokes</a>, <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-track/mtt/trice_lawrence00.html">… Trice</a>, <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-track/mtt/battle_allante00.html">… Battle</a> and <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-track/mtt/miller_ray00.html">Ray Miller</a> placed second with a time of 39.97 with only the HSI International team placing ahead of them in 39.90. The Sun Devils were first among collegiate teams in the race.</p><separator></separator><p>The long sprinters were next up with <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-track/mtt/sanford_donald00.html">… Sanford</a> leading the charge by taking third in the invitational 400m dash in 46.16. <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-track/mtt/phillip_joel00.html">Jo… Phillip</a> (46.83) and <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-track/mtt/kremer_justin00.html">J… Kremer</a> (47.69) also competed in the race, finishing fifth and sixth, respectively. The trio joined forces with Miller at the end of the meet for the 4x400m relay and placed second in 3:03.78, just 0.08 off the winning time of Pac-10 rival USC.</p><separator></separator><p>On the women’s side, both relays placed fifth on the day with the 4x400m relay team of Dominique’ Maloy, <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-track/mtt/chaney_jasmine00.html">… Chaney</a>, <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-track/mtt/pinnick_keia00.html">Ke… Pinnick</a> and <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-track/mtt/sanchez_kayla00.html">K… Sanchez</a> running a season-best time of 3:37.57. The same four women also ran the 4x100m relay earlier in the day and clocked in at 46.79.</p><separator></separator><p>Individually, Chaney and <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-track/mtt/nettey_christabel00.htm… Nettey</a> both fared well in the invitational section of the 100m hurdles with Chaney running 13.40 to take fourth overall and Nettey running 13.62 to finish eighth. Nettey, a true freshman, posted the 10th-fastest time in school history with her run.</p><separator></separator><p>The final competitor of the day for the Sun Devils came in the field as <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-track/mtt/clarke_jordan00.html">J… Clarke</a> competed in the invitational men’s shot put event and placed fifth overall with a season-best toss of 18.31m (60-01.00). Clarke was the top collegiate competitor in the event.</p><separator></separator><p>The Sun Devils will return to action next Saturday when they play host to the Sun Devil Open. The meet will be the final home event of the season for ASU.</p>
