ASU student team-building trip leads to 'Price Is Right' win
Students from ASU’s School of Letters and Sciences' (SLS) Exploratory Residential College took a one-day, turn-around trip to Southern California during Spring Break, which included tickets to a taping of "The Price is Right" in Los Angeles, Calif.
All decked out in their ASU Gold and seated down front, the nearly-30 spirited Sun Devils made quite an impression. One lucky student, Janet Duarte Nevarez, was called up as a contestant – and (spoiler alert) ended up winning a trip to Hawaii! The episode airs May 1 on CBS.
"I still can't believe I was on 'The Price is Right,'" says Duarte Nevarez. "It was on my bucket list, and it feels great to cross that one off! I was so excited onstage that I kept forgetting how much my bid was. Luckily my roommate was there to remind me. I want to thank SLS for giving me the opportunity to have such an amazing experience."
The trip was organized and chaperoned by community director Seth McManus and residential community coordinator Nicole Wesley.
“After the taping, students enjoyed exploring Hollywood Boulevard and the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” says Wesley. “Trips like these are great for community-building. They help instill school spirit and pride, and, most importantly, build persistence toward graduation.”
