ASU sends three divers to nationals on day one of Zone E

March 11, 2011

The Arizona State men's and women's diving team punched three divers' tickets to nationals on the first day of competition at the Zone E Championships hosted by Air Force in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

For the second-consecutive year, sophomore Riley McCormick took home the top spot in the men's 1-meter spring board with a score of 762.50. With his first-place finish McCormick qualifies to compete at the NCAA National Championships.

Also qualifying for the NCAA Championships is junior Cameron Bradshaw. Bradshaw, who placed eighth last season in the event, finished in third place in the 1-meter spring board to earn the 7th NCAA qualifier position overall.

Rounding out the Sun Devil qualifiers for the first day is junior Elina Eggers. Eggers finished second overall in the women's 3-meter springboard to earn a spot at Nationals.  The All-American scored 631.10 in the finals just eight-tenths of a point off of first-place finisher Victoria Ishimatsu of USC.

The second day of the Zone E Championships continues tomorrow at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
