ASU newcomer to lead College of Liberal Arts and Sciences marketing efforts
Originally from the University of Arizona, ASU newcomer Nick Adamakis says he's proud to become a Sun Devil.
Adamakis is the new director of marketing, communications and outreach for ASU's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. “I’m looking forward to creating and leading marketing strategies that enhance brand value, promote growth and engage students, faculty, alumni and the ASU community,” he said.
He has more than 25 years of marketing experience, including 16 years in higher education administration at the University of Arizona.
More remarkably, Adamakis is a cancer survivor, who at the age of 23 won a life-threatening battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a rare form of blood cancer.
Adamakis will lead the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences team to develop strategy and oversee all marketing efforts, branding, social media, media relations and publicity, and will provide counsel and business acumen to support the college’s leadership team and academic units.
“As the largest college at ASU, liberal arts and sciences are key to the future of the university,” said Dean Patrick Kenney. “I am confident Nick will raise the profile of our college so students know the breadth of our studies.”
At the University of Arizona, Adamakis served in high-profile marketing and business leadership capacities, most recently as associate director for the student unions and director of marketing for student affairs, where he was responsible for directing the marketing strategies and communication efforts for a $220 million auxiliary that included admissions and enrollment.
Adamakis built, led, mentored and managed an integrated and award-winning marketing and communications team of 15 professional staff and more than 25 students. In addition to his marketing efforts, Adamakis also led the development and implementation of the university’s first mobile application, and implemented and managed innovative divisional social media plans, digital content properties and recruitment initiatives.
He received both his bachelor's in music and marketing and his MBA from the UA, where he also earned a UA leadership fellowship and numerous management and committee awards.
Adamakis has one son, Nicolas III, who is a junior studying film at ASU.
