ASU men's golf in top at Callaway Collegiate


Stephan Gross and Jesper Kennegard each shot a 1-under par 71 to lead the No. 9 Sun Devils in the opening round of the Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship. Arizona State posted an even-par 288, putting them two strokes ahead of Texas A&M for first place at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.

Gross and Kennegard are tied for fifth place individually, just one stroke behind four others for first place in the tournament. Along with the two sophomores, juniors Knut Borsheim and Tristan Bierenbroodspot recorded 1-over par 73's, while freshman Spencer Fletcher ended the day with a 7-over par 79.
