ASU Invite, Desert Twilight 5k go under the lights


<p>On Friday, October 2, the Arizona State University cross country program will play host the 24th edition of its annual home meet, the ASU Invitational, with several changes being made for this year's race. After holding the meet at Kiwanis Park in Tempe for the past seven years, the meet has been moved to Toka Sticks Golf Course in Mesa, Ariz., where it will join several other races under the lights as part of the 2009 Desert Twilight Cross Country Festival.</p><separator></separator><p>Along with the two collegiate races (men and women) and six high school races, the inaugural Desert Twilight Community 5k will debut that night at 7:05 p.m. and is open to runners of all ages and experience levels. The first race of the festival, the high school boy's open, will start at 5 p.m. with the final race of the night, the high school boy's sweepstakes, taking place at 8:50 p.m. All nine races will be 5,000m (5k) events and will be run the entire time on grass. Spikes will be allowed on the course (no strollers please).</p><separator></separator><p>Following the final race, individual and team awards will be presented. For the community race, the top scoring team will receive a trophy with the Top 3 finishers in each age group earning a medal. Throughout the festival, Desert Twilight t-shirts will be on sale for $15 (bring your community race bib and pay just $5).</p><separator></separator><p>Entry for the community race will be $20 per person and runners are encouraged to form teams (up to seven runners) to battle for the team title as well. There are three ways to register for the community run:<br />1. Visiting Active.com (search Desert Twilight) or by clicking on the link provided below<br />2. Print out the registration form (found below) and mail it in before the deadline<br />3.
