ASU celebrates Fall Welcome
<p>ASU is hosting a variety of events for new students and parents. The events and activities are planned for across all ASU campuses to introduce new students and their families to ASU traditions, academic programs and the university community. Are you also an alumnus of ASU? If so, don’t miss the ASU Alumni Association’s special “Welcome Home” event specifically for our legacy parents/relatives. Come stop by and enjoy refreshments and snacks inside of Old Main (Basha Library). You will get a chance to meet Christine Kajikawa Wilkinson, president of the ASU Alumni Association, and Alumni Association Board members in the nostalgic setting of Old Main. Celebrate your Sun Devil Pride and revisit your former college years – an event not to be missed! You and your family are invited.</p><separator></separator><p><strong>Opening Convocation</strong><br />10 a.m., Friday, August 17</p><separator></separator><p>Wells Fargo Arena, Tempe campus (simulcast to all ASU campuses)<br />University Center, Downtown Phoenix campus<br />La Sala, West campus<br />Cooley Center, Polytechnic campus<br /><br />ASU’s annual University New Student Convocation officially begins ASU’s academic year. President Crow, along with other ASU officers, welcome new students and their families to the university. Each campus will host this event, with the welcome being broadcast from Wells Fargo Arena to Downtown Phoenix, Polytechnic and West campus. Each campus has planned additional events around this welcome, so go to www.asu.edu/fallwelcome and select your campus for more event information.</p><separator></separator><p><strong>Whitewash the “A”</strong><br />4 to 5 p.m., Friday, August 17: Refreshments, Southwest corner of Sun Devil Stadium<br />5 to 7 p.m.: Whitewashing, “A” Mountain, Tempe campus<br /><br />Show your Sun Devil pride by participating in one of the University’s longest standing traditions — Whitewashing the “A” on Tempe Butte. Come help celebrate the new school year by painting the “A” white to signify the start of the 2007 fall semester. Enjoy refreshments, spirit and fun with other new students from 4 to 5 p.m. at the southwest corner of Sun Devil Stadium from 4 to 5 p.m., and then afterwards, head up. “A” Mountain to paint with your fellow Sun Devils from 5 to 7 p.m. After, cheer on our football team at its final scrimmage of the pre-season.
