ASU advances at NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championships


Arizona State Women's Tennis player Nadia Abdala beat out Beier Ko of Harvard on Wednesday to advance to the Round of 32 at the NCAA Women's Tennis Individual Championships. Eleventh seeded Abdala defeated the twelve seed Ko in a decisive 6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-4 win at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.

Team mate Kelcy McKenna, currently ranked tenth in the nation, was unable to overcome her opponent, Duke's Ellah Nze, falling 6-3, 7-6 (2).

Abdala will face Georgia's eigth-seeded Chelsey Gullickson tomorrow, May 21 at 10:00 a.m.

Twelfth seeded doubles duo Micaela Hein and Kelcy McKenna will also play tomorrow, in a match up against the eleven seed Noelle Hickey and Christy Striplin of Georgia Tech. Doubles action begins at 10 a.m.
